This table is finished top-to-bottom in our saltbox inspired white-wash finish.
It's a tranquil, light weight rendition of an otherwise chunky, up-massed form. Fabricated from richly weathered barn wood, the table provides ample depth of interest, in spite of the neutral, monochromatic palette.
At 8', 9' or 10' x 42", and with a 2" solid pine top, this is a substantial table that will easily seat 10-12 people. With the exception of the strapping under the table-top – made from new pine, for additional strength and to stabilize the salvaged pine top – every part of this table is single source solid pine, reclaimed from an old barn. The robust, hand shaped pedestals and feet are glued up from the same planks as the table top. The effect is a rock solid, consistently rustic, consistently finished, and especially striking statement table.
Territorial Collection
New Mexico is a spectacular landscape. Before statehood, Anglo settlers arriving from the northeast found, in the old Spanish capital at Santa Fe, an aesthetic profoundly different from the one they had left behind. The Spanish had been living among the Hopi for 350 years. The adobe houses that the Spanish had adapted from Hopi tribes were perfectly suited to the high desert. These houses and their furnishings were unfamiliar, especially in the context of the Classical Greek tradition from back east. Many settlers applied Spanish and Native design practices. And gradually, a locally sensitive yet Classically informed aesthetic emerged. This period and its artifacts are known as Territorial.

As-Found Condition Barn Wood
The material for this table was salvaged from an old barn. Whereas we'll occasionally mill barn wood to near-perfection, and repair any damage, we have processed the material for this table as little as possible. We left the characteristic cracks, and variety of holes and stains to add character and tell their story, just like we found them.
White-Wash
Our take on the classic the white-wash effect. We start with a coat of our Clarence White and when it's dry we wash it down with a wet cloth. The trick is getting the wash right. Remove too much paint, and the wood looks bare. Remove too little, and the paint looks damaged. The process is completed with one sealer and two lacquer clear-coats, which brings out the wood grain, protects the wash, and steps up the sheen. Pairs well with Clarence White.
