Story
With clean lines, a low profile, yet classic raised panel doors, our Sutton Sideboard cuts a timeless silhouette. And at 90" long, it makes a strong, practical statement.
Designed to stand the test of time – fashionable, but resistant to the ravages of impulsive fad. Every inch is solid wood – yes the back as well. Built to last for generations to come. Joinery is mortise and tenon throughout. Door panels float in the door frames. The cabinet top is 1 1/4” thick. At only 15” deep, the unusually slim profile of our shallow version is ideal for slight spaces. The 17" deep version provides a little more interior storage with a small bump in outside depth, and the 19" version is traditional depth/storage for sideboards, buffets and servers. Exceedingly practical, each bay has two adjustable shelves.

Hand Hewn Top

Hand hewing produces a uniquely textured effect. We use a number of hand tools in the process – planes and scrapers mostly, and even some home-made implements. A hand worked surface will "take the finish" differently than a smooth sanded surface. Not so differently that they appear mismatched, just different enough to layer in some variety. The result is a warmly mottled and very forgiving finish. A hewn surface arrives new with variation of colour and texture. The odd scratch or dent will blend right in, enhancing the character, rather than diminishing the perfection.
Adjustable Shelves
![Adj shelves](https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0039/6972/files/Adj_shelves-1.jpg?v=1581139511)
Adjustable shelves are crucial for flexibility of use. This cabinet features our simple yet sturdy cleat-and-trammel system. Solid, wooden pegs are arranged in slotted rails. They don't break. They are easy to adjust – even with a loaded shelf – difficult to lose, and simple to replace.
